Laura de Gaspari
I am inspired to connect dance with the sacred. Dance is an important
component of the expression of our bodily being in the relation with
the Divine. I am drawn towards the presentation of dance
performances as practices, which generate imagery of hope and rebirth. In other words, the body in dance becomes the locus of a
transformative experience: we transfigure movements towards a
celebration of Joy, as the underlying essence of existence.
My interpretation of Egyptian dance is its aesthetic-religious character:
a sense of primal joy, at the heart of existence.
I am fascinated by the dialogue between dancer and musician: their
search to unite in a feeling of one-ness and create the ecstatic
moment. AS a teacher my aim is to connect dancers to their inner
sense, where they draw an inspiration for self-expression, to a way of
living dance as the interconnection of life and art.
